Laurance LaCause

Laurance is italian by genetics born and raised in the U.S. He knew at the age of 10 that he had a strong interest which turned into a love for hair. By the age of 17 he became a licensed professional. This started him on the road of advancing his technique with many New York trips to study with the masters of the day. From there he spent time studying and traveling Europe to hone is art and give it a polish that is seen rarely executed today in any salon. Upon starting his career in New York he managed and operated Garren at the Plaza and ran specialty Hair Salons for the Bloomingdale retail stores. He left this venue to branch out in the editorial and advertising world. This allowed him the opportunity to work with such master photographers such as Avedon, Irving Penn, Patrick DeMarchelia, Bill king as well as every major model of the time. His work has been seen in all major high fashion magazines cover to cover both in the United States and Europe. This work also offered him the opportunity to do hair for the collections of major designers on the runway of Paris, Milan and New York, Valentino, Mary McFadden, Versace, Calvin Kline just to name a few. His celebrity clients over the years span from the broadway stage to the silver screen. These names he never reveals both for their privacy and his. "Celebrities are real people to", exclaims Laurance, " they are allowed to have a private relationship with a hairdresser as well as anyone is."

If asked today he will tell you that his career has come full circle and he is doing what he loves the most. Creating beautiful hair on his clients from all walks of life. "Watching and creating a real transformation gives me such a great feeling" ---Giving birth to "A Private Studio" has given me the outlet for creating on real people in a low key unintimidating atmosphere.


John Haracopos

John is first generation Greek born here in the states. With a strong european influenced upbringing its not a surprise that his talent for art shown through in hair. He has a strong British trained technical background which is obvious when you see him work with such a disciplined eye. His creativity was soon to be noticed by the infamous Suga who operated a salon of the same name and was one of the top new York salons for a decade before his passing. In 1990 John chose to team up with Laurance LaCause to spread his wings in the world of free-lance. Today he is a strong element in the operation and image of "A Private Studio" and feels that it is an expression of what he feels beautiful hair should be.
